Head of housing

Lincoln Cornhill is proud to be working with a Council based in the Southeast to source a permanent Head of Housing. The role is paying upwards of £82,076 per annum and you are required on site 2-3 times a week.

Responsible for all legislative and regulatory aspects of the Council’s housing services, including housing landlord services, housing needs & homelessness, private sector housing & housing standards, allocations/lettings and resident engagement and customer experience.

The range of function which are covered include:

• Deliver high-quality, safe and resident-focused housing services
• Lead the successful delivery of the Housing Transformation Programme
• Drive improvement against the Consumer Standards
• Ensure financial sustainability of the HRA
• Contribute to corporate leadership, supporting a “one council” approach
• Strengthen partnerships to address housing need across the organisation
• Provide expert advice to Members and senior leaders on housing strategy, policy and emerging issues
• Drive service redesign, modernisation and new operating models to meet current and future demand
• Lead continuous improvement, embedding a high-performance, learning and outcome-focused culture
• Champion a resident-first culture, embedding meaningful tenant engagement and co-production

Experience and skills required:

• Relevant housing qualification, CIH Level 4 or above or equivalent
• Evidence of ongoing professional development
• Significant experience in social housing within a Local Authority or Registered Provider
• Strong track record of driving service improvement and delivering measurable outcomes
• Experience aligning services to regulatory requirements, including Consumer Standards
• Strong understanding of social housing legislation, regulation and Consumer Standards, including Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code, Consumer Standards April 2024 and Damp, mould and building safety responsibilities
