Overview
BEMO is seeking a Shift Manager-Sub Agent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for works on site during the shift, taking the lead in safe delivery as well as managing aspects of time, cost and quality for the shift. The role requires technical knowledge and experience of engineering/tunnelling, leadership and project management skills.
Responsibilities
* Safe delivery of the works within their shift.
* Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including changes/variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and records of work-related discussions with client, supervisor, designer and project team.
* Plan the shift work in collaboration with the Pit Boss to maintain the programme.
* Collect documentary evidence for the construction records and compile these records for Safety/Environmental/Certification/Quality/Commercial, including target/actual comparisons.
* Produce RAMS/ITP/Programme/VTS for the work delivery, analyse and evaluate using planned vs actual tools; check project delivery documents for completeness and conformity to the contract, legislation, standards and gain approval of the documents (plans) for execution.
* Involvement in the procurement of material and subcontracted services, and management of materials on site to deliver the works.
* Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations, and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
* Prepare monthly construction management reports.
* Manage incidents as SIC (bronze) within the Incident Response Plan.
* Lead, motivate and train employees on their shift.
* Control site operations in collaboration with the construction and commercial managers.
* Sub contract management and updating of work pricing and control.
* Check and identify discrepancies between contracts/specification/scope and work being delivered, and address these; maintain daily records for future claim management.
Qualifications
* Civil Engineering Degree / HNC or similar in a construction discipline.
* Experience working as shift manager in tunnelling environment.
* Valid CSCS card (Black/Gold/White).

* Chartered or working towards becoming chartered with or a member of a relevant institute.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate
* Track record as Shift manager on previous Tier1 contract.
* Experience of segmental shaft sinking and tunnelling.
* Experience of managing Permit systems
