We have a new exciting and career defining opportunity for a Senior Research Engineer - Stress, Design & Weights to join our growing Hydrogen Systems Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the green revolution in aviation, aligning with our company mission, "To be the most Trusted and Sustainable Partner in the Sky".
Reporting to the Principal Research Engineer for Design, you will be responsible for accurate modelling and simulation of cryogenic and ambient hardware using standard finite element modelling tools. The role is based at our Bristol GTC, with occasional international travel.
How You'll Contribute
This multi-disciplinary role involves leading the development of weight understanding across the Cryogenic Power distribution system and supporting structural analysis (stress) where appropriate. Responsibilities include:
* Stress and mechanical analysis for system development and integrity assessments, including CTE compliance analysis for cryogenic systems.
* Design engineering skills, including 3D modelling in Catia V5 and DMU management in Windchill.
* Weights and mass calculations, including aircraft mass balance accounting.
* Innovative problem solving with good influencing and presentation skills.
* Working comfortably with ambiguity and limited requirements to build models.
Qualifications include a Bachelor or Master Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in stress and mechanical analysis or component design. Proficiency in Catia V5, FEA/FEM modelling, and knowledge of weights accountancy are required. Familiarity with GD&T, manufacturing standards, and MBSE methodologies is desirable.
