Job Title: Bookkeeper Bishops stortford Job Type: Full-time Role Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of a busy business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting the wider finance function. Key Responsibilities Maintaining and updating financial records, including ledgers and journals Processing invoices, payments, and expense claims Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable Performing regular bank reconciliations Preparing and submitting VAT returns Assisting with payroll processing (if required) Supporting month-end and year-end financial reporting Liaising with external accountants and auditors Skills and Experience Proven experience in a bookkeeping or similar finance role Strong understanding of basic accounting principles Experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong organisational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Qualifications (Desirable) AAT qualification or equivalent (or working towards) Relevant finance or accounting certification Personal Attributes Reliable and trustworthy Proactive and able to manage workload effectively Strong communication skills Professional and discreet when handling financial information
