Overview
Hull College is seeking an Academic Coach on a 14+ fixed term contract until 31st July 2026. Working hours are 37 per week, 52 weeks per year. Salary: £26,139. Annual leave: 31 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period). The post holder will provide academic and/or technical training to students to support achievement within the technical qualification of their programme, through classroom and/or workshop training to develop, improve and consolidate learning.

Responsibilities
* Work effectively with academic staff and cross-college colleagues to deliver outstanding services to students.
* Prepare training materials, equipment and resources for student activities you are responsible for.
* Deliver high quality learning experiences to develop student learning, including the College’s Tutorial Framework.
* Deliver and assess learning for any additional short qualifications delivered on the programme.
* Deliver training to improve the technical and/or academic skills of students.
* Supervise and instruct groups of students to develop skills and knowledge related to the qualification.
* Assess learning and measure student progress using a range of assessment methods.
* Supervise and facilitate employability and enrichment activities for students.
* Ensure practical learning environments, equipment, machines and plant comply with health and safety requirements; identify actions and report through line management.
* Maintain individual student records to capture progress, including attendance and initial assessment records.
* Contribute to onboarding of students (e.g., interviewing, taster sessions, open events as required).
* Act as an ambassador for the college with professional conduct to internal and external customers.
* Comply with College policies and procedures, particularly Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
What we’re looking for in our Academic Coach
* Level 2 Maths and English
* Hold or be willing to work towards a relevant Level 3 teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS)
* Level 4 Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards
* Experience demonstrating techniques for specialist areas (e.g., technical equipment, hardware, software)
* Experience dealing with internal and external customers, maintaining high standards
* Experience supporting classroom, training and workshop activities
