The Company My client is a specialist marine engineering company manufacturing bespoke propulsion and mechanical systems. The business continues to grow and invest in modern CNC machinery and skilled people. They are now looking to appoint a Workshop / Production Manager to take responsibility for day-to-day manufacturing operations and lead the workshop team. The Role You will be responsible for the management, performance, and output of the workshop, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. The environment includes CNC machining, manual machining, fabrication, welding, and finishing. You will work closely with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Logistics to ensure smooth delivery of customer projects. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a workshop team of machinists and fabricators Oversee CNC and manual machining operations and fabrication activities Plan and control workflow, labour, and machine utilisation Ensure health & safety standards and housekeeping are maintained Coordinate materials, suppliers, and external partners Liaise closely with internal Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Logistics teams Support continuous improvement and efficient production practices Provide hands-on support when required to resolve production issues Skills & Experience Required Mechanical engineering background (apprenticeship or formal qualification preferred) Strong knowledge of CNC machining and workshop practices Previous experience managing or supervising a production / workshop team Comfortable leading experienced engineers and machinists Strong organisational and problem-solving skills (Electrical-only backgrounds are unlikely to be suitable.)
