About the area
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) (DVCR) Portfolio oversees research policy development and general oversight of the University’s research activities, which encompass postgraduate education, research and quality and impact, research infrastructure, industry liaison and intellectual property and commercialisation. A crucial element within the DVCR Portfolio is the development, maintenance, and sustainability of processes and external relationships which support industry internships for Higher Research Degree (HDR) candidates.
The principal role of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Training is to lead and oversee the Graduate Research School and the career development activities from HDR to ECR and mid-career researchers.
About the opportunity
* Provide high-level strategic, administrative, and executive assistance to the Graduate Research School and senior research leaders, including handling sensitive projects and supporting HDR committees.
* Advise on governance requirements, coordinate and draft committee papers and reports (e.g., for Senate, Academic Board), and contribute to key communications like the UWA Annual Report.
* Manage special projects, research and data analysis, committee participation, and ensure efficient workflow and follow-up on actions across internal and external stakeholders.
About you
* Tertiary qualification in law or policy or demonstrated equivalent competency.
* Substantial and extensive administrative experience with a capacity to maintain attention to detail.
* Excellent planning and organisation skills, using relevant technologies, and a demonstrated ability to determine long‑term planning, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and experience in finding options and solutions to complex issues.
* Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and engagement, together with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels and as a member of a team.
* Excellent demonstrated ability to carry out high-level research and write reports, briefing notes, and create presentations.
