Lung Cancer Patient Navigator

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the Respiratory Service as a Lung Cancer Patient Navigator. The role involves facilitating the smooth running of the lung cancer pathway, ensuring that care is coordinated, streamlined and centred around each patient’s individual needs.
This position is a 12‑month fixed post funded for the duration of the contract.
Main duties
Work directly with patients and their carers and capture accurate information to keep patient records and Trust systems up to date.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the complete lung cancer care pathway, demonstrating excellent communication, organisational skills, and a high level of detail and accuracy.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience
* Relevant qualifications in healthcare administration, cancer services or leadership
Knowledge & Experience
* Proficiency in IT systems, including fast and accurate keyboard skills
* Previous administrative experience within a healthcare setting
* Experience applying hospital administration systems
* Knowledge of key access targets (e.g., 62‑day cancer and 28‑day FDS)
* Experience working within cancer pathways
* Previous experience with data input
* Understanding of the purpose of PTLs
