Manchester’s Finest Group
Position: Full-time, permanent, based in the Northern Quarter in Manchester
Salary: £25k - £30k, depending on experience

We’re looking for a talented and creative writer to join our busy editorial team here at Manchester’s Finest Group. As a key contributor to our content, you’ll be responsible for producing high-quality and comprehensive guides and feature articles that highlight the best of what Manchester has to offer.
Our ideal person is someone who can write engaging copy for guides and features online, assist with social captions, stick to deadlines, and work creatively to a brief in a fast-paced environment. As our community is our greatest asset here at Manchester’s Finest Group it’s also imperative that you’re able to work well with our experienced team, take feedback and communicate efficiently.
You should have experience of and a passion for writing for lifestyle publications and an excellent knowledge of food, drink, and culture, as you’ll predominantly be covering these areas, as well as other topics of interest to our engaged audience and the wider community.
We would love to hear from you if you are a talented wordsmith with a strong local knowledge of Greater Manchester and the North West.

Responsibilities:
* Write compelling guides and feature articles across a range of lifestyle topics including food and drink, culture and entertainment, shopping, and more.
* Develop detailed guides that serve as go-to resources for locals and visitors, offering insider knowledge and recommendations.
* Utilise sourcing/research skills to uncover unique insights or stories that will resonate with our audience.
* Communicate effectively and be able to engage with/interview notable figures to gather first-hand perspectives for feature pieces.
* Collaborate effectively and work closely with the editorial team to generate ideas, coordinate coverage, and ensure content aligns with our editorial standards and tone of voice.
* Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines before publication.
* Support the promotion of guides and features across various digital channels – including social media and newsletters - to maximise visibility and engagement and drive reads.
* Support the video team with scripting and creating video versions of the written guides.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience in writing and publishing feature articles, guides, or similar content, preferably within the lifestyle sector.
* Excellent writing skills with a keen eye for detail and a strong command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
* Passion for Manchester and a deep understanding of its culture, trends, and attractions.
* Strong research skills and the ability to uncover the best places and hidden gems.
* Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving editorial priorities.
* Understanding of social media and different platforms, and an ability to construct engaging captions for editorial features.
* Familiarity with Wordpress, SEO best practices and digital content management systems is a plus.
Desirable:
* Ability to do voiceovers or be on camera to present written features across socials.
* An NCTJ qualification is preferred, but all applicants will be judged on their abilities before qualifications.
