Dundee City Council is seeking a talented professional who is passionate about the environment, with extensive experience in project planning and coordination, stakeholder engagement, relationship building, and continuous improvement. Working in a hybrid style, based at home and at 5 City Square, you will work full time, 37 hours per week. Requirements
You will have a degree or equivalent qualification, or be experienced in project planning and council policies related to environmental matters.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop coherent environmental strategies aligned with local and national policies.
2. Lead and coordinate environment capital plan programming and support the development of the Environment Asset Management plan.
3. Oversee project design, surveying, estimating, and manage the GIS team, including administration of capital and revenue projects.
4. Develop technical designs for parks development and master plans.
5. Coordinate environmental initiatives such as the 'Take Pride in Your City' campaign.
6. Lead the delivery of service events and advise on applications for Beautiful Scotland and Beach Awards.
7. Develop and improve sports booking processes.
8. Foster links and support community groups and environmental initiatives aligned with Dundee City Council’s strategic plans, such as the City Plan.
The Individual
You should demonstrate knowledge of project management, preferably within the environmental sector, and extensive knowledge of street scene, parks, and open spaces issues. Experience in managing and supervising staff and teams is essential, along with representing the council or department in internal and external groups. You should be skilled in preparing formal reports and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Leadership, organizational, development, and workload management skills are required. Effective presentation and staff engagement skills are also important. A current driving license is necessary.
