Job Title: Administrator- Personnel Office

Rate of Pay: £24,845.49 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Weekly Contractual Hours: 37.5

Location: HMS Raleigh, Trevol Road, Torpoint, Cornwall, England, PL11 2PD

An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering first class administration services to our world class Armed Forces personnel.


Position Overview

Based in the Personnel Office HMS Raleigh, this role provides a broad and flexible service to meet the contracted administration requirements of the Armed Forces (predominantly the Royal Navy) and there is the potential to rotate through various elements of professional responsibilities when required to meet the needs of the business. Training can be provided, where appropriate.


Main Responsibilities

The role involves providing a dedicated day‑to‑day focal point for personnel administration, acting as a direct customer interface and liaising closely with co‑ordinators and line managers. Responsibilities include arranging travel using an online booking system and working with booking companies, co‑ordinators, and travellers to ensure smooth arrangements. The position also requires collating and maintaining budget‑related information, as well as maintaining and protecting all personnel‑related data. Duties include data input and updating the joint‑Service administration system, along with assessing entitlements such as pay, allowances, expenses, promotion, and awards. The role must be carried out in full compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations and the General Data Protection Regulations. Additionally, the individual will undertake any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager, which may include providing support or cover for other staff.

The successful candidate will be well‑organised, precise, confident with credible communication skills, readily able and willing to contribute at all levels. In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity. Pro‑active and persuasive when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self‑motivated. The incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values. In addition, the following is needed.

The ideal candidate will have strong administration experience, supported by good organisational and motivational skills and a high degree of integrity. They must demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high‑quality administration and service, including experience in customer‑facing environments. The role requires a persuasive and credible communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build close working relationships. Candidates should be IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications, and it is desirable for them to be conversant with, or have knowledge of, MOD personnel administration applications and systems. A proactive approach is essential, along with the ability to embrace and lead on change. The candidate must also be capable of managing short‑notice changes to requirements and deadlines and should possess a good standard of education.


Additional Information

MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.

The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only.
