Consultant in Geriatric & General Medicine Welcome Bonus 12K
As part of a major investment programme at Ipswich Hospital, a significant investment has been approved to deliver a transformative model for inpatient medical and older persons care. This model has been collaboratively designed by our consultant leads across acute medicine, older people's services, and medical specialties. It aims to:
* Provide appropriately resourced 7-day consultant working
* Strengthen GIM rota, improving rotas and balancing workload across the week
* Reduce the burden on clinicians associated with Medical Take by decreasing frequency and increasing post-take support
* Innovate in patient care and service delivery, ensuring the right patient sees the right clinician at the right time (7 days/week)
* Ensure patients are managed from the outset on the most appropriate ward for their condition(s)
* Provide early access to specialist advice
* Deliver improved quality of care and support sustainable consultant job plans
The post-holder will:
* Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service of the highest standard
* Collaborate with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
* Maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients, and A&E
* Promote close links with tertiary centres, community services, and primary care
* Support and lead junior medical colleagues, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary team
Clinical Responsibilities include:
* General responsibilities, including participation in the Consultant on-call rota
* Specialist clinics and outpatient clinics
* Operational duties as per specialty
* Teaching and training of junior staff and undergraduates
* Participation in clinical governance and other administrative tasks
