The Opportunity Due to continued growth and a consistently busy caseload, the practice is looking to welcome a confident Veterinary Surgeon with experience in routine GP surgery and first opinion practice. This popular branch benefits from a varied mix of both medical and surgical cases, making it well suited to a vet who enjoys a diverse workload and is confident managing routine procedures. Alongside the day-to-day demands of a busy small animal practice, the clinic is equipped with ultrasound and K-Laser therapy facilities, supporting a high standard of patient care. The successful candidate will work alongside a highly experienced and collaborative clinical team, including multiple Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), experienced support colleagues, and a part-time Senior Vet. Additional clinical and operational support is provided by a dedicated Regional Manager and Regional Head Vet, ensuring guidance is always available when needed. Flexible Working Options The practice offers flexibility to suit different lifestyles and working preferences, with options including: One full-time Veterinary Surgeon working a 4-day week, or Two part-time Veterinary Surgeons The rota has been designed to support work-life balance and includes: Only one full day of sole charge 1 in 4 Saturdays 1 in 8 hospital Sundays 1–2 bank holidays per year Inclusion in a last-resort on-call rotation To support a smooth transition into the role, the successful Veterinary Surgeon will also spend time at the hospital during the induction period to meet the wider team and become familiar with clinical processes and facilities. Key Responsibilities As a Branch Veterinary Surgeon, responsibilities will include: Delivering high-quality veterinary consultations, conducting thorough clinical examinations, and recommending evidence-based treatment plans aligned with best practice and clinical protocols Performing routine GP surgery confidently and safely within individual clinical competence and branch capabilities Prescribing, maintaining, and dispensing medications in accordance with RCVS guidance and current veterinary medicines legislation Maintaining accurate, detailed, and comprehensive clinical records to support continuity of patient care Referring cases appropriately and in a timely manner when required, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of treatment Supporting a positive, collaborative, and respectful team environment focused on exceptional patient and client care Location – Why Brentwood, Essex?
