Job Summary Join a dynamic Liaison Psychiatry Service at Peterborough City Hospital, where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to patients with complex mental and physical health needs. This substantial part‑time Consultant post (4 sessions) offers the chance to work primarily with adults aged 17 to 65, providing expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment in a fast‑paced general hospital setting. Dual training in adult and older adult psychiatry is particularly desirable. The role offers flexibility and can be shaped around the successful applicant’s skills, interests and experience, with the possibility of increasing sessions in the future.

Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership to the Liaison Psychiatry Service, focusing on assessment, diagnosis and evidence‑based treatment of patients with psychiatric and psychological co‑morbidity.
Work collaboratively with CPFT and NWAFT colleagues to ensure high quality, integrated care and to achieve agreed performance targets.
Lead training and support programmes for staff, including clinical supervision for trainees, foundation doctors and GP trainees.
Engage in teaching and supervising of undergraduate medical students, postgraduate trainees and junior staff.
Maintain accurate clinical records, audit performance and support research and service development.
Provide liaison with statutory and non‑statutory sector agencies and maintain communication with patient communities.
Ensure adherence to local and national protocols, clinical governance and incident reporting procedures.
Participate in on‑call duties and manage rota commitments as required.
Person Specification Education and Qualifications
Essential: Full GMC registration and licence to practice; MRCPsych or equivalent.
Desirable: Postgraduate thesis.
Experience
Essential: CCT in general adult psychiatry or within 6 months of attainment of Higher Training CCT; Approved Clinician Status or eligibility to attend training; Experience in assessment and management of patients in an acute medical setting, including working with older adults.
Desirable: Relevant research experience; Endorsement or equivalent experience in Liaison Psychiatry; Dual training in Old Age and Adult psychiatry; Endorsement in Substance Misuse Psychiatry.
Skills, Knowledge and Ability
Essential: Demonstrate understanding of the NHS landscape; effective teaching and training skills; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team; excellent communication with patients and agencies.
Desirable: Experience delivering and developing services in a changing environment with tight budgetary restraints.
