Sewell Wallis are partnering with a leading PLC in Leeds who are looking to recruit a Financial Controller into their UK Head Office team.
Ideally you will be Practice trained with a strong technical background and experience of leading an audit.
With exposure to key stakeholders across the business and working closely with the Finance Director, this is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to make a step up into an FC role.
Key responsibilities
1. Preparing statutory accounts and consolidating the reporting pack
2. Creating the Group quarterly reporting pack
3. Planning for the year end audit report and quarterly reporting
4. Implementing any accountancy policy changes
5. Managing the statutory requirements of all overseas entities
6. Liaising with external auditors and any other external advisors as required
7. Understanding the ageing of the ledgers and ensure that there are appropriate provisions at quarter ends, working with the credit control team to reduce the ageing of the ledger and resolve any issues
8. Taking ownership, accountability and oversight of all balance sheet reconciliations and providing the FD with complete visibility of all current, emerging and future risks and opportunities
9. Managing all areas of cash and treasury including ensuring that appropriate FX forecasts are in place, cash flow reporting and ensuring full compliance with any banking requirements
10. Ensuring compliance with VAT and liaise with external VAT advisors on issues for both UK and European taxes
11. Developing processes and controls
12. Managing a small finance team
13. Ad hoc project work
Requirements
14. Fully qualified Accountant, ideally ACA / ACCA / CIMA
15. Working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
16. Full understanding of UK corporate entity statutory requirements and UK VAT legislation
17. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non finance colleagues
18. Strong IT skills and experience of analysing large sets of data
19. Ability to lead and develop a small team
