Amber Therapeutics are looking for a diligent and organised part-time Finance Assistant to join our growing team in a brand-new role. You will work 15 hours per week ideally 3 hours per day, 5 days per week (though we can offer some flexibility). If you're someone who is detail-orientated, thrives on precision and likes the sound of supporting a small finance function with real impact – this could be your next move.
This is a hybrid role (Tuesday – Thursday onsite) working at our new custom-built site in Harwell, Oxfordshire when the site opens in early July 2025, and will involve working remotely until then. Amber is a pioneering neuromodulation company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients through advanced medical technology.
The Role
You’ll be supporting the Finance Manager with a range of tasks including processing invoices, expense reconciliations, supplier communication and supporting with VAT returns.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process invoices, expenses, and purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and reconciliations.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding payment queries and discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate financial records for all transactions.
• Support VAT returns and other tax-related matters.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with internal teams and assist with queries.
• Handle ad hoc finance tasks and projects as required.
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in a finance or accounts role is essential.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of UK financial regulations and compliance requirements is advantageous.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and detail-focused with previous experience in a finance or accounts setting. This is a hands-on role where accuracy, organisation and communication are key.
