Job Description: Your Impact Our Engineering Improvements function are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Engineering Development Specialist to contribute, at all levels of the organisation, to the successful adoption of new releases and transformational initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Engineering Improvements, you will be responsible for supporting functional owners in the communication, training, and workshop facilitation (and support with the creation of the material required for those activities) of new releases into the organisation. Initially, the scope of this role will primarily be focused on the continued implementation of Design for Excellence (Dfx), including; Manufacture, Assembly, Test, Sustainability, Supportability and Reliability, within the organisation. Your role will then expand in the future to support implementation planning of initiatives into Business as Usual (BAU) once they reach that level of maturity, as required. Please note, this role is hybrid, with regular travel to all the following UK sites; Edinburgh, Newcastle, Luton, Lincoln, Southampton, and Bristol. Day to day, you will be working closely with programmes and projects within the Lines of Business of the Electronics UK Business Unit and liaise with Learning and Development and Early Careers in the continued implementation of DfX. You will also be a key stakeholder in transformation initiatives, so you are in a position in the future to support its adoption within the business. You will: Organise, plan, and facilitate training activity to all levels of the organisation, from early careers to senior leadership. Initially focussed on DfX, this will expand in the future to encompass additional content. Plan and facilitate workshop activity on an on-demand basis, tailored to the requesting team’s needs. Work closely with functional content owners to continue creation and development of material (such as tools and templates) which can support greater adoption and understanding by users. Act as an engineering change ambassador within transformation programmes, as required, with a view to supporting or owning the implementation or reinforcement plan once in Business as Usual (BAU), depending on the project. Subject matter expertise in Design for Excellence process and tools, including (but not limited to) Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, Design for Test, Design for Supportability & Reliability What you’ll bring: Full understanding and experience of developing products throughout the entire product lifecycle Subject matter expertise in Design for Excellence process and tools, including (but not limited to) Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, Design for Test, Design for Supportability & Reliability Experience facilitating, directing, and supporting teams through complex engineering and design problems The ability to understand complex engineering processes and the inter-dependency of the process components Experience of managing multiple projects and reporting on progress Subject matter expertise in all forms of FMEA Expertise in Change Management. Familiarity with change management frameworks such as Prosci (ADKAR), or 5Cs would be an advantage Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Subject, or equivalent An understanding or familiarity with multiple engineering disciplines; mechanical, electronic, software, systems Digital tooling and application experience, such as PLM (e.g. Teamcenter) or similar Six Sigma Green Belt Qualification or similar This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
