Civil Engineering Lead Location: Reading, UK Pay: £84,200 - £114,000 per annum Our client, a leading joint venture in the petrochemical and refining sector, is hiring for a Civil Engineering Lead to support the SAMREF Project - a major initiative to develop a world-scale mixed-feed steam cracker and upgrade refinery facilities, with a strong focus on reducing GHG emissions and enhancing operational efficiency. What you'll be doing: * Provide technical leadership and expertise in civil and structural engineering, ensuring design aligns with project objectives, standards, and safety requirements. * Collaborate with project teams and contractors to optimise scope, manage risks, and deliver cost-effective solutions during pre-FEED and FEED stages. * Oversee contractor activities related to civil works, including foundations, earthworks, drainage, and site infrastructure, ensuring compliance with international codes and standards. * Lead reviews of calculations, drawings, and specifications, providing expert input to ensure accuracy and fit-for-purpose design. * Manage civil engineering standards, develop design philosophies, and support the integration of new technology and equipment assessments. * Contribute to risk management, weight control, and technical evaluations for large-scale modular and onshore civil works. What you'll bring: * Extensive experience in civil and structural engineering within onshore oil & gas, refining, or chemical projects, including large-scale civil infrastructure and modularisation. * Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, collaborate effectively, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly. * Strong knowledge of international codes, standards, and best practices for civil and structural design. * Hands-on expertise in site infrastructure, foundations, earthworks, and offsite utilities. * Familiarity with project standards, risk assessment, and technical evaluation processes. * Experience working with or understanding of Middle Eastern projects and cultures is advantageous. Qualifications: * Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent. * Demonstrated leadership in large-scale civil engineering projects. * Knowledge of relevant licences and certifications preferred.
