Responsibilities
* Partake in the day-to-day running of operating lists in all specialties, under both direct and indirect supervision.
* Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of anaesthesia for on‑call and elective daytime surgery.
* To share with colleagues, responsibility for the Obstetric and Senior Anaesthetic Trainee on‑call rota.
* To cover the Critical Care Unit to intermediate training standards.
* To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME).
* To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
* To attend Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust meetings as appropriate.
* Fulfil duties of weekly timetable including any out‑of‑hours responsibilities.

The Trust has teaching hospital status as part of the University of Exeter Medical School and provides acute medical and surgical services to a population of around 400,000.
Candidate Requirements
The post is supported by the division of anaesthesia and theatres and requires the applicant to have completed three years of Anaesthesia training, including the Initial Assessment of Competence in Obstetric Anaesthesia (IACOA), in a recognised training post. The successful candidate will have completed the Primary FRCA exam and will have undertaken a three‑year Core Training programme in Anaesthesia.
The trainee will take part in the senior anaesthetic trainee or obstetric trainee on‑call rota, including night shifts, alongside ST3 and CT‑level anaesthetic trainees. The year may include a three‑month placement in the Critical Care Unit in line with Royal College guidance.
