Location: Romford
Pay Rate: £25-£35 per hour
Job Type: Temporary | Part-Time | Flexible Hours- choose between morning, noon or evening sessions.
Here at Prospero, we work with Barking and Dagenham council to support them in providing tuition for vulnerable children in need of extra support with their academic studies.
The children we provide tuition for require support due to:
1. SEN needs
2. Gaps in their education due to exclusion
3. No school placement
4. Working at a level lower than expected
Key Responsibilities:
5. Provide 1:1 tuition in Functional Skills, Maths, and/or English, adapted to each student’s ability and learning profile.
6. Work with learners with a variety of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, global development delay and communication difficulties.
7. Design and deliver individualised lesson plans in line with EHCPs or identified support needs.
8. Use a calm, consistent, and encouraging approach to build trust and foster student engagement.
9. Liaise with parents, carers, and professionals to ensure consistent and coordinated support.
Requirements:
10. Minimum 1 year experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or therapeutic setting.
11. Experience teaching or supporting Functional Skills and/or core subjects. (Maths or English)
12. Right to work in the UK.
13. Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.
Desired:
14. SEN Qualification, ABA experience, or training in Autism/ Social Communication strategies.
15. PGCE or QTS.
16. Previous experience working with students in an alternative provision or outside the classroom environment.
