Casualty Claims Handler (Employer’s Liability, Public Liability & Injury Claims)

Location: Remote (UK based only)

Salary: Competitive, dependent upon experience.

Term: Permanent - Full Time (35 hours pw)

We are seeking experienced, confident Casualty Claims Handlers with a focus on Employer’s Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), and Injury Claims to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a specialist team, where you will be ‘loaned’ out to both internal and external clients to offer your claims expertise.

As an EL, PL, and Injury Claims Handler, you'll be responsible for managing a diverse range of claims, including workplace injuries, public liability incidents, and other casualty-related injury claims. This opportunity allows successful candidates to enhance their skillset, network with a diverse range of clients, develop knowledge of various systems, and still be supported by your team. Each assignment typically lasts between 3–12 months, ensuring that no two days will ever be the same!

Successful candidates will be employed on a secondment model, meaning you will be assigned to various teams based on business needs. While the assignments are temporary in nature, this is a permanent role, and after one secondment concludes, you will transition to another project within the organisation.

This role is fully remote; however, when working with our clients, you may be required to travel to their offices for training (including overnight stays, paid for by the company). You may also be required to attend our offices for meetings and events.

Key Responsibilities:

* Managing a wide variety of Employer’s Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), and injury claims from notification through to settlement, ensuring efficient handling and compliance with relevant regulations.
* Evaluating and assessing claims thoroughly, including reviewing evidence, medical reports, and determining legal liability, particularly in the context of workplace and public injury incidents.
* Applying relevant legislation and regulations in claims handling, including familiarity with EL/PL claims protocols, health and safety laws, and public liability guidelines.
* Quantifying injury claims, assessing the severity of injuries, rehabilitation needs, long-term impacts, and related losses (such as medical expenses, lost earnings, and pain/suffering), ensuring fair and accurate settlements.
* Effectively negotiating settlements with claimants, insurers, legal teams, and other stakeholders, ensuring a fair resolution in line with legal requirements.
* Understanding and applying the Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU) process, ensuring compliance with recovery procedures for injury claims.
* Explaining complex legal and insurance concepts clearly and concisely to all parties involved, including claimants, their legal representatives, employers, and insurers.
* Identifying and managing fraudulent claims and taking appropriate action to prevent or address fraud in EL/PL/injury claims.
* Managing claims through the litigation process, adhering to required timescales and procedures. Experience in handling claims in Scottish, English, and Northern Irish jurisdictions is beneficial.
* Supporting both internal and external teams, providing expert EL/PL and injury claims handling support on a secondment basis.

Essential Skills & Experience:

* Proven experience in handling Employer’s Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), and injury claims, from initial notification through to settlement.
* Strong understanding of relevant EL/PL insurance legislation, health and safety regulations, and injury claims protocols.
* Experience in assessing injury claims, including quantifying personal injury, assessing rehabilitation needs, and calculating associated losses such as medical expenses and lost earnings.
* Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve claims fairly and efficiently, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
* Ability to navigate and apply the CRU process and manage claims within the pre-action protocol and portals.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and insurance concepts to a variety of stakeholders, including claimants, legal representatives, employers, and insurers.
* Analytical skills with the ability to assess liability, including identifying fault in workplace accidents, health and safety breaches, or public incidents.
* A good understanding of the litigation process, including timescales, with experience handling claims across multiple jurisdictions (Scottish, English, and NI) being an advantage.
* Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
* Experience with various claims management systems and the ability to adapt to different client environments.

What We Offer:

* Flexible work options: Enjoy remote working to support your work-life balance.
* Generous Holiday: 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an option to purchase more holidays throughout the year.
* Customisable Flexi-Benefits: Choose benefits that suit your lifestyle.
* Professional Growth: Access training with industry experts and qualifications like Cert CII and BDMA, with financial rewards upon completion.
* Referral Scheme: Earn a financial reward when your referred colleagues complete their probation period successfully.
* Pension Scheme: Self-invested personal pension above the statutory minimum.
* Reward & Recognition: Earn vouchers for popular retailers in categories like retail, dining, and entertainment by sending and receiving ‘points’ to colleagues within the business.
* Health & Wellbeing: Select from benefits like eyecare vouchers, cycle-to-work schemes, and digital consultations, designed to keep you healthy and supported.
* Green Car Scheme: Lease an electric vehicle with home charge point installation (if required) through our partner supplier.
* Life Assurance: Cover for you, with the option of adding your partner in the event of death while in service, regardless of medical history.
* Critical Illness Cover: Receive a lump sum if diagnosed with conditions like cancer, a heart attack, or stroke.
* Group Income Protection: Cover up to 60% of your salary after six months of incapacity.
