Brightpoint Community College invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. This is a 12-month full-time administrative faculty position. This role will provide high-level administrative support to the academic division by providing direct support to faculty and students. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Core Administrative Support
8. Leadership and Operations: Assists the Division Dean in the daily operation of the division and provides division and institutional leadership on special assigned projects, including division-related grants, program development, and assessment. Serves as a member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Team.
9. Reporting: Reports directly to the Division Dean and may act in the Dean’s place for delegated routine and specialized administrative and academic tasks.
10. Relationship Management: Cultivates constructive working relationships with the Dean, classified staff, and faculty; collaborates with Associate Deans in other academic divisions and other members of the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs teams.
11. Campus Coverage: Provides evening campus coverage and serves as administrator-on-duty as assigned.
Student and Faculty Support
12. Student Services: Resolves student concerns and issues related to curriculum and instruction.
13. Academic Advising: Performs academic advising within the division to support student success and retention.
14. Faculty Management: Supervises, manages, and develops college faculty and staff, including the orientation of new full- and part-time faculty.
15. Evaluations: Completes adjunct and dual enrollment faculty evaluations in accordance with institutional policies.
Academic Programs and Specialized Duties
16. Accreditation and Compliance: Provides direct assistance with programmatic accreditation (e.g., ACEN) and assists with ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance with state boards and healthcare governing bodies.
17. Curriculum and Scheduling: Assists with the development of the course schedule and coordination of program and discipline reviews.
18. Assessment: Assesses instructional programs and reviews student learning outcomes to ensure achievement of academic objectives.
19. Logistics: Reviews faculty technology requests and serves as a liaison between the bookstore and faculty.
Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
20. Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Nursing or Allied Health-related discipline, higher education leadership or administration, or equivalent. Active RN license issued by Virginia or through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
21. Skills: Superior written and oral communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Professional experience using appropriate technologies for communication, data management, and reporting. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships, develop collaborative partnerships, and work in a collegial and diverse environment. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission. Demonstrated ability to manage personnel and processes in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and policies.
22. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.
Additional Considerations:
23. Prior postsecondary academic administrative experience
24. Other allied health-related licensure(s) and/or certification(s)
25. Full-time teaching experience in a community college or higher education setting
26. Education beyond the Master’s degree
27. Experience with instructional technology and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
28. Direct experience with healthcare-specific simulation technology and clinical placement coordination
