Head of Legal - Surrey | £80,000+ plus Bonus | Office Based
A growing, Surrey based law firm is seeking an experienced Solicitor to act as its Head of Legal and join its senior leadership team, playing a key role in the firm’s next phase of growth and modernisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to help drive strategy, manage legal operations, and support the development of the firm as it continues to expand. This is a senior leadership position suited to an experienced Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister who has acquired upwards of 5 years experience and Civil Litigation know how.
You will be will be responsible for overseeing legal operations, risk management, compliance, and team performance across the firm. The role combines strategic leadership with active involvement in case management and litigation decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Advising stakeholders on legal, governance and risk matters
* Leading legal strategy, compliance and risk management processes
* Supporting and managing fee earners and legal staff
* Attending court and managing counsel where required
* Reviewing cases where liability has been denied and deciding whether matters proceed to litigation
* Managing risk across the firm’s caseload including limitation, prospects and disbursements
* Overseeing paralegal work including CNFs, liability reviews, medical records and expert evidence
* Supporting the growth and development of the legal team

Applicants will have acquired a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, have a strong understanding of CPR, possess the gravitas to push through strategy and as a bonus have some interest in automation and modernisation in the legal sector.
A fantastic Surrey based opportunity with salary upwards of £80,000 with bonus.
