This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing engineering consultancy delivering geotechnical and environmental ground investigation services on projects across the UK.
You’ll work as part of a supportive and technically experienced team, getting involved in both site and office-based work — from ground investigations and contamination assessments to detailed reporting and design input.
Role Overview:
This is a varied and challenging role offering exposure to all stages of geo-environmental projects. You’ll undertake fieldwork, manage investigations, interpret data, and prepare factual and interpretative reports for a wide range of developments including residential, commercial, and infrastructure schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, manage, and deliver ground investigations for both geotechnical and contamination assessments
* Supervise site works, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring safe and efficient delivery
* Undertake soil and rock logging in line with current British Standards
* Prepare technical reports including desk studies, interpretative assessments, earthworks and remediation strategies, and waste classifications
* Carry out qualitative and quantitative risk assessments in accordance with current guidance
* Conduct geotechnical analysis to inform foundation, pavement, and retaining wall design
* Liaise with clients, regulators, and internal design teams throughout project stages
* Mentor graduate engineers on both field and office-based work
About You:
* Degree-qualified in Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
* Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a geo-environmental or geotechnical role
* Full UK manual driving licence
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with logging software such as Holebase
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Comfortable working outdoors and travelling to site across the UK
* Knowledge of Phase I and II investigations, groundwater/gas monitoring, and soakaway testing
* Membership (or working towards) with a relevant professional body such as the FGS (Geological Society) is desirable
