This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored, 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and the school’s SENCO to help the child access the curriculum and develop their confidence, independence, and social skills.
This role is open to candidates with classroom based experience, but also for those who have previously worked with SEN children in a different setting.
Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Padiham
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Contract: Full-Time – Term time only
Start Date: September 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the individual learning, emotional, and behavioural needs of a specific pupil
- Deliver personalised support in class and during structured interventions
- Assist with the implementation of the pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP)
- Use appropriate strategies and resources to support engagement and progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and outside professionals
- Record and monitor progress and provide regular feedback
Who We’re Looking For:
- An excellent understanding of SEN and additional needs
- You may have previous experience in a school — but it’s not essential
- We welcome applicants who have supported children with SEN in alternative settings (e.g., nurseries, youth work, care roles, therapy settings, after-school clubs, or family support work)
- You are patient, resilient, and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- You can work independently but also as part of a team
- A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable but not required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
