Regional Health and Safety Manager, Rail
Location: Bristol and South West region
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Responsibilities:
* Ensure health, safety, quality, and environmental standards across the infrastructure team, focusing on the Rail business.
* Conduct internal audits and site inspections to assess compliance with IMS requirements and external standards.
* Advise senior management on compliance issues.
* Lead accident and incident investigations and reporting.
* Participate in HSQE risk assessments at corporate and project levels.
* Collaborate with infrastructure clients to ensure safe working practices.
* Deliver behavioural safety training in partnership with Learning and Development.
Candidate Profile:
We seek experienced H&S professionals with a background in infrastructure, rail, and potentially highways. Candidates should be confident liaising with clients, regulators, and stakeholders, and experienced in inspections, audits, and reviewing safe working methods. Experience in arboriculture or landscaping is a plus. Must hold IOSH Certified or Chartered status and have experience with accident investigations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven HSQE management experience in rail and infrastructure sectors.
* Knowledge of UK rail safety regulations and vegetation management.
* Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel.
* Resilience and ability to work strategically and on-site.
* Passion for health and safety improvement.
* Interpersonal skills for effective relationship building.
* Problem-solving skills.
