What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Housing Solutions Manager REF: K&C 5273221 Pay rate: £27.40 per hour PAYE Basic DBS needed for this role The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an experienced and confident Homelessness Manager with working knowledge of both Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act. You will manage a team of officers working on a high number of complex Part 6 and Part 7 cases and be on a Duty rota for the Housing Solutions Service. It is essential that you are skilled in managing Stage 1 and Stage 2 complaints. The position will likely be for 6 months. Hourly rate maybe negotiated for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Assess, investigation and verification of applications who would like to join the Housing Register under Part VI of the Housing Act 1996 and the Council’s Allocations Scheme on an allocated casework basis. To assess, interview and verify applicants who want to make an application under Part VII of the Housing Act (1996). Determine what duty, if any, is owed to the household under the Homeless Reduction Act (2017) and the Housing Act (1996). Ensure that the Council fulfils its responsibilities in line with the Councils’ statutory duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and provide reliable data and information for the Council and the Department for Communities and Local Government on the outcome of customer journey’s. What the client is looking for: Previous experience working as a Housing Solutions Manager A good knowledge of legislation on lettings, homelessness, security of tenure, tenants rights including codes of guidance, case law and good practice. Excellent knowledge of both Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act. A good knowledge of a range of housing options and homelessness prevention approaches. Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, interviewing. Investigation, advocacy and a win-win approach with all stakeholders Ability to analyse complex issues and written material quickly, to think creatively about problems and identify solutions A good understanding of current issues affecting social housing and private housing provision in inner city areas Ability to lead, motivate and develop colleagues and customers to plan and evaluate their options Ability to lead and develop a team that is able to prioritise workloads and achieve targets and deadlines Excellent communication skills including the ability to write detailed technical letters and reports How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
