About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Artisanal Baker to join the team at Society Bar & Kitchen, an award-winning Scottish bistro in the heart of Edinburgh. You’ll take full responsibility for our in-house bakery output, working independently to prepare and bake high-quality focaccia, pastries, and tray bakes daily.
With over 500 covers served per day, this is a high-volume environment where consistency and care are everything. The restaurant opens at 8:00 AM, so you’ll be working early mornings and should feel confident managing the bakery section solo.
Main Duties
* Prepare and bake daily batches of focaccia bread, pastries, and tray bakes to a consistently high standard
* Manage dough preparation, proofing, and baking schedules for volume and quality
* Ensure the bakery area is organised, clean, and fully stocked each morning before service
* Work independently during early morning hours, delivering reliable and timely results
* Collaborate with the wider kitchen team as needed for events, seasonal updates, or service support
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a professional bakery or pastry production kitchen
* Strong technical knowledge of dough fermentation, lamination, and large-batch baking
* Highly self-motivated and confident working alone from 5:00 AM
* Ability to maintain excellent standards under time pressure
* Eligible to work in the UK — visa sponsorship available if required
