The job itself
Applicants are required to work as part of a 2:1 staffing team for a 5 year old boy, who is non-verbal with a diagnosis of Autism and high sensory needs.
This young person is very loveable and affectionate and is also very active. He adores swimming and other forms of waterplay. He really enjoys being outside in nature and within open spaces. He enjoys play parks and outdoor areas as it allows him to meet his sensory needs such as spinning items, swinging and spinning around. He also enjoys being out walking with his adapted pushchair.
This young person can display some challenging behaviours at times such as self harm when they become unsettled, agitated or unable to communicate their needs, this can also be directed to adults around them. He can also struggle in very busy environments and wears ear defenders at times to help him regulate. This young person also requires support with intimate personal care and assistance with food/drinks.
Applicants need to be of strong character and willing to work with some challenging behaviours and be comfortable with delivering personal care. Applicants must also be friendly, patient and energetic and able to keep up with a very active young boy. Driving is not essential though desirable. Family can provide use vehicle if necessary.

7. Attending/transporting the individual to activities.
8. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
9. Assistance with food and drinks
10. Assistance with Personal care when required.
Hours
4 hours pw term time
8 hours pw holidays
