Personal Injury Paralegal / Legal Assistant Location: Cardiff (City Centre) Salary: Up to circa £28,000 per annum Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Overview An established and growing Cardiff-based law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join its claimant personal injury team. The successful candidate will assist in the management of a varied caseload of personal injury matters and support the delivery of high-quality legal services to clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with previous personal injury experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and busy legal environment. Key Responsibilities Manage and progress a caseload of claimant personal injury files under appropriate supervision. Assist with personal injury matters from initial instruction through to settlement or conclusion. Handle a range of claims including: Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims. Employers' Liability (EL) claims. Public Liability (PL) claims. Clinical negligence matters. Obtain and review medical records, medical reports, and other evidential documentation. Draft correspondence, witness statements, schedules of loss, and other legal documents. Liaise with clients, insurers, medical experts, barristers, and third parties. Maintain accurate file records and update the firm's case management system. Monitor limitation dates and key procedural deadlines. Prepare files for litigation where appropriate and assist with court-related processes. Provide regular updates to clients regarding the progress of their claims. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, firm policies, and quality standards. Person Specification Essential Criteria Previous experience working within claimant personal injury law. Understanding of the personal injury claims process and relevant pre-action protocols. Experience handling or assisting with EL, PL, and/or RTA matters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Competent IT skills, including experience using case management systems. Professional and empathetic approach when dealing with clients. Desirable Criteria Experience of clinical negligence matters. Ability to manage a caseload with minimal supervision. Knowledge of litigation procedures and court processes. Relevant legal qualification, such as: Law degree (LLB). CILEx qualification.
