Exciting opportunity for a Qualified/Trainee Assistant Practitioner in Mammography
We are seeking self-motivated, enthusiastic Assistant Practitioners in Mammography who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our busy Breast Imaging Service. We are also open to considering a Trainee Assistant Practitioner for this role.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, friendly, and hardworking, with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to integrate well with the team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement are essential. Candidates should have excellent concentration skills, attention to detail, and the ability to empathise with and understand patient needs.
Bolton Breast Imaging is committed to providing high-quality care for all patients attending for breast imaging. Our services include imaging for Bolton Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services, delivered at Bolton Royal Hospital and three satellite sites in Bolton centre, Radcliffe, and Rochdale.
The service supports a diverse skill mix, including Consultant, Advanced, Enhanced, and Assistant/Associate Practitioners. We are a progressive service that actively promotes continued professional development.
The role of an Assistant Practitioner in Mammography is to provide and maintain high standards of mammography for all patients, working under the supervision of a qualified senior radiographer. Responsibilities include performing quality control tests, reporting equipment issues, participating in performance assessments, and assisting during ultrasound examinations and clinics.

* Perform breast screening examinations to high standards in line with NHSBSP guidelines.
* Conduct screening and family history mammography at various sites.
* Select appropriate mammographic projections and exposures using departmental protocols.
* Ensure proper identification, clinical history recording, and image evaluation.
* Adhere to radiation safety regulations and participate in quality control activities.
* Assist clinicians during biopsies and ultrasound sessions, ensuring proper documentation and sample handling.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment, stock supplies, and support administrative duties.
* Adopt flexible working hours to meet service needs.
