Senior Dental Officer (Special Care) role at Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. This post is a Band B, permanent position working across Dental HealthCare Peterborough & Huntingdon Special Care Dental Service. Car parking is free.
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and flexible Clinician to join our existing team, which operates as part of a wider service covering Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Suffolk. We deliver high quality dental care in a busy patient centred environment along with dental public health work in the community. The work is wide ranging and might include inhalation sedation, general anaesthesia, urgent and domiciliary care. The post holder will be providing full courses of treatment to patients with special care needs and those most in need.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the smooth running of the Service adult and paediatric general anaesthetic lists, chair weekly GA planning meetings, manage patient queries, liaise with hospital colleagues including the anaesthetic team, the LD and Autism team, patient co-ordinators, oral maxillofacial department, safeguarding and other relevant agencies.
* Work collaboratively with Specialists in Special Care Dentistry across the Service geographical area to ensure learning is applied and opportunities for service improvement are maximised.
* Attend GA sessions at Peterborough City Hospital (Mondays 08:00–18:00; Thursdays 12:30–19:00).
* Provide a Clinical Supervisor role during the 2025-2026 Foundation Dentist scheme year and an Educational Supervisor role in 2026-2027.
* Participate in regular domiciliary sessions including private homes and care homes.
* Be trained in delivery of care under inhalation sedation, if required.
Requirements
* Full range of dental care to patients in special care and paediatric patients.
* General Anaesthetic experience and ability to oversee GA lists.
* Ability to work 37.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday.
* Support and develop Foundation Dentists and be comfortable in a supervisory role.
