Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Security Architect to join us here at Genomics England, and help shape the security architecture that protects sensitive genomic data at national scale. Within this role you'll be supporting the Head of Information Security to deliver the Cyber Security Strategy and Roadmap. You will be our lead technical security engineering and architecture resource for both cyber security projects and BAU activities, including managing the security solutions Genomics England uses to protect data and services.
Key Accountabilities
* Act as the technical lead on Information Security for Genomics England
* Design, develop and implement security solutions to reduce cyber risk in line with the risk management framework
* Own and evolve the existing Cyber Security solutions used across Genomics England
* Respond quickly and efficiently to security incidents when required
Core Skills
* Strong technical experience related to cybersecurity, preferably in a hybrid environment (AWS and on-prem)
* Experience of deploying and supporting security solutions such as NGFW, NGAV, SIEM, UEBA, vulnerability scanners and patch management
* Exposure to an environment with changing priorities or circumstances, and the ability to prioritise and balance competing demands
* Good planning and organisation skills
* Ability to clearly document processes and procedures for others to understand
* Experience of vulnerability and patch management
* Experience designing and securing cloud architectures
Desirable Skills
* Experience with Ansible, SALT, Terraform and development tools such as GitLab, Confluence and Jira in a DevOps environment
* Experience in Linux (NB the environment is predominantly Linux)
* Experience delivering security solutions in a containerised environment
* CISM or CISSP certification
* Knowledge and understanding of Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO27001 and/or the NIST Security Framework
* Degree in computer science or software engineering or equivalent experience
Qualifications
There are no mandatory qualifications or membership requirements for this role, however any security certifications would be highly desirable.

Salary From: £89,900

Blended working model
Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility that hybrid working can bring. We expect most people to come into the office a minimum of 2 times each month. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. There is no expectation that people will return to the office full time unless they want to, however, some of our roles require full time on site attendance e.g., lab teams, reception team.
