About the Opportunity
Tradewind are working with a specialist primary SEMH provision in Hammersmith & Fulham is looking to appoint a dedicated and empathetic Behaviour Mentor / Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant from January 2026.
This role involves supporting pupils in EYFS through to Year 4 who experience social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. You will play a key role in helping children regulate their emotions, build positive behaviours, and engage successfully with a mainstream-style curriculum.
With small class groups of just 5-8 pupils, you will be able to provide meaningful, individualised support in a structured and nurturing environment.
This opportunity is particularly well suited to experienced Behaviour Support TAs, Youth Workers, or professionals with strong behaviour management skills seeking to move into a school-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across EYFS-Year 4
Helping children develop emotional regulation and self-management skills
Implementing clear and consistent behaviour strategies and routines
Supporting pupils during periods of dysregulation using calm, trauma-informed practice
Delivering 1:1 and small group behavioural and academic support
Following behaviour support plans and risk assessments
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
Encouraging positive behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion
Maintaining high safeguarding and child protection standards
The school are seeking someone who is calm, patient, resilient, and genuinely committed to supporting children's emotional and social development. You will be confident managing challenging behaviour and understand that behaviour is often a form of communication.

Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant
SEMH Teaching Assistant
Youth Worker
Residential or Care Support Worker
Sports Coach with strong behaviour management experience
Essential Criteria
Proven experience supporting children with behavioural needs
Background in SEMH, SEN, PRU, alternative provision, or similar settings
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Understanding of trauma-informed and restorative approaches
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Right to work in the UK
