A Vacancy at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust. This is a newly created post designed for candidates with strong training in cross-sectional radiology, with a specialist interest in neuro and cardiac imaging. We are delighted to invite applications for this exciting opportunity to join the radiology team at Kingston Hospital. This role offers the chance to contribute to a dynamic and evolving service, supporting growing demand in key areas while working within a collaborative and forward-thinking department. The current job plan supports a full-time 10 PA substantive consultant post at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust. Applications are welcomed from candidates wishing to work less than full time or those interested in job-sharing arrangements. Applicants should have broad experience in general radiology, with specialist interests in cardiac imaging and neuroradiology. Competence in general CT and MRI reporting is essential, alongside the ability to contribute to relevant Cancer MDTs, participate in hot reporting, and undertake duty radiologist sessions. It is anticipated that remote access will be available for all consultants to support home working, in line with the implementation of the regional RIS/PACS system. It is anticipated that remote access to allow home working will be available for all consultants as the regional RIS/PACS system come online (provisionally late 2024). The successful candidate will participate in a diagnostic on-call rota with an approximate frequency of 1 in 18. Weekday on-call duties will be on-site from 17:00 to 20:00, supporting urgent imaging, hot reporting, and clinical queries. Weekend on-call commitments will be on-site from 08:00 to 17:00, contributing to acute service provision and maintaining timely reporting for urgent and emergency cases. Overnight CT reporting (20:00–08:00) is currently outsourced via an external provider (4Ways). However, the on-call radiologist will remain available from home overnight to provide clinical support for urgent imaging requirements, including ultrasound and other time-critical cases where radiologist input is required. • Provide a high-quality, timely, and accurate diagnostic radiology service across general cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI). • Contribute specialist expertise in cardiac imaging and neuroradiology, supporting service development and expanding departmental capability in these areas. • Participate in Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, including preparation, imaging review, and provision of expert radiological opinion. • Undertake hot reporting sessions to support acute and emergency care pathways, ensuring rapid turnaround of urgent imaging. • Contribute to the duty radiologist rota, providing clinical advice to referrers, vetting imaging requests, and supporting service flow. • Support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care, in line with Trust policies and Royal College of Radiologists standards. • Engage in service development and transformation initiatives, including optimisation of imaging pathways and adoption of new technologies (e.g. cardiac CT pathways, neuro imaging services). • Contribute to the teaching and training of junior doctors, radiographers, and other healthcare professionals, including involvement in departmental educational activities. • Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement projects, incident review, and adherence to best practice guidelines. • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and reporting, ensuring compliance with medico-legal and professional standards. • Work collaboratively within the wider radiology team and across specialties to support efficient patient pathways and improve diagnostic performance. • Support and adapt to flexible working practices, including remote reporting, in line with the development of the regional RIS/PACS system. • Contribute to the on-call rota where required, depending on service needs. • Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) and remain up to date with advances in radiology practice, particularly in cardiac and neuro imaging.
