Tees Valley Lithium (TVL) is developing a strategically important lithium refining facility in the Northeast of England to support the UK and European battery supply chain. The project will play a key role in strengthening domestic capability in critical minerals and battery materials. We are a focused, high performing team building a major industrial project with long-term strategic importance.
Role Description
The Project Director will lead the delivery on the refinery project through detailed development and into construction. Reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside the COO, this role will be responsible for ensuring the project is delivered safely, effectively and in line with agreed capital and schedule parameters.
This is a hands‑on leadership role. In a lean organisation, the Project Director will combine strategic oversight with practical execution, working closely with engineering, commercial and contractor teams on a day‑to‑day basis.
What you will be responsible for
* Leading the overall delivery strategy for the refinery project
* Managing engineering and construction partners
* Ensuring integration across process design, infrastructure and utilities
* Maintaining cost discipline and schedule integrity
* Driving clear risk management and mitigation planning
* Ensuring robust governance and reporting processes
* Supporting Board and investor updates as required.
You will act as the senior delivery authority for the project, ensuring that decisions made during development and execution support long‑term operational performance.
What we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced project leader who is comfortable operating in a small, fast‑moving organisation and who enjoys building capability as well as delivering outcomes.
* Strong commercial awareness and contract management capability
* Experience working closely with engineering contractors
* Confidence managing cost, schedule and risk
* Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders
* Experience in chemicals, energy, battery materials or heavy industrial environments would be advantageous.
