Overview
We are looking for environmental professionals across all levels of experience to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the UK, based from any of WSP’s UK offices. We have an exciting portfolio of projects across sectors including onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, rail, and more. We seek people with a creative and proactive approach and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle.
As one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies, WSP engages in challenging and high-profile projects. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team oversees environmental inputs throughout schemes, from concept through to construction and handover, collaborating with wider environmental specialists and other professionals to develop proposals that fit with and enhance the environments and communities involved.
We work to shape projects at the concept and option stages, support design through consent, and focus on wider benefits such as improved habitats, cleaner air and water, and lower carbon. When schemes are approved and underway, we ensure practice meets commitments with design and construction teams. The role is suited to a proactive individual looking to progress their career.
The role suits an enthusiastic individual who wants to influence, manage and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects across sectors such as rail, highways, energy and commercial/residential, from feasibility through planning, detailed design, construction and handover/maintenance.
A Little More About Your Role…
* Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
* Collaborating with colleagues, diverse environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
* Managing the delivery of a diverse range of environmental inputs into projects including EIA screening requests and scoping reports, environmental constraints studies, environmental management plans and Environmental Statements
* Managing projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects
* Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities to provide support in resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery
* Undertaking activities to secure new work, including proposals, strategic bid preparation, and business development participation
* Supporting the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we work (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA)
* Inspiring and upskilling junior colleagues to support career development
* Promoting an inclusive workplace and demonstrating commitment to health and safety and wellbeing
* Contributing to the success of the WSP business strategy with self-motivation toward role- and project-relevant goals
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
* A relevant environmental degree level qualification
* Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA, or equivalent
* Experience of EIA processes with ability to work with limited supervision within multidisciplinary teams
* Knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
* Post-qualified experience coordinating environmental assessments on various projects
* An understanding of project management, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting and quality assurance
* Experience liaising with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, and external bodies
* Verbal and written communication skills, including detail-focused report writing
