My market leading engineering client is looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor to join their team in Gloucester, to work across diverse, high-impact industries such as aerospace, defence, and high-performance automotive.
As Machine Shop Supervisor, you will lead and supervise the team, ensuring all objectives and standards are met in a timely and efficient manner. You will directly oversee the production department, consisting of Team Leaders and skilled team members, ensuring their day-to-day responsibilities are carried out effectively.
This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Production Planning, Process Engineering, and Quality Engineering to continually drive and improve performance. You will be responsible for driving the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People performance of your team, with a focus on meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise team and ensure that day-to-day responsibilities are completed in a timely manner and in line with organisational objectives.
2. Motivate team and promote good attitude and practice in line with shopfloor behaviour standards.
3. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve overall performance, recognising and troubleshooting problems to reduce impact on performance and quality standards.
4. Lead the development of your Production team to strengthen and enhance capabilities.
5. Drive the operational performance of your area of responsibility – focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People.
6. Improve the efficiency of production processes by implementing optimisation opportunities aligned with operational KPIs.
7. Routinely report on Production KPIs.
8. Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Instructions for all production activities, especially regarding Health & Safety and Quality.
9. Utilise the IFS ERP system effectively from a Production perspective and maintain accurate production data.
10. Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workspace to support good Health & Safety practices.
11. Liaise with other functions within the organisation to enhance operational performance and effectiveness.
12. Support the schedule for external and internal audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Previous experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor, or Manager within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Experience with CNC or Machine Shop operations would be beneficial.
