Job Summary

Join our Children’s Short Breaks team, where we pride ourselves in providing outstanding care to children across Worcestershire. We will provide resources to develop and progress a long‑term career, flexibility, continual professional development, and a wide range of well‑being and support. About the Service

Childrens Short Breaks service provides vital respite care for children in Worcestershire who have a learning disability and complex medical needs and/or behaviours that challenge. It is co‑located with the Adult Replacement Care Service at Osborne Court in Malvern. The post holder will be expected to work predominantly Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, however there may be occasions when clinical shifts are required.


Responsibilities

* Ensure children are well cared for whilst staying with us.
* Compile rotas.
* Provide line management and clinical supervision to the team.
* Clinical management oversight.
* Adhere to Ofsted and CQC regulations and be available for the Ofsted Regulation 44 Visitor.
* Conduct audits.
* Attend Short Breaks Panel.
* Engage with key stakeholders (commissioners, social workers, schools).
* Maintain good communication with families/carers.
* Other duties as required to support the service.


Essential Experience

* Significant post‑registration experience.
* Significant operational and management experience, including working with families, children and young people, behavioural management strategies, clinical competence with PMLD/fragile health, staff management and performance, budgetary management, monitoring/data collection, audit, standard setting, rota planning, risk management.


Desirable Experience

* Counselling.
* Service evaluation.
* Person‑centred planning.
* Evidence of ongoing continual professional development.
* Working in an Ofsted registered facility.


Additional Criteria

* Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts.
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
* Commitment to multi‑agency working.
* Commitment to the development of quality services.
* Commitment to achieving a good/outstanding rating with Ofsted and CQC.
* Commitment to equality and anti‑oppressive practice in employment and service delivery.

Knowledge

* Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Basic food hygiene regulations.
* Infection control procedures.
* CQC requirements.
* Ofsted requirements.
* Child development and developmental delay.


Desirable Knowledge

* Learning disabilities.
* Holistic assessments.
* Children and young people opportunity timetabling.
* Management plans for behavioural and clinical.
* Risk assessments.
* Observations.
* Target setting.
* Children’s Homes regulations (April 2015).
* Safeguarding.
* Leadership.
* Legislation pertaining to learning disabilities and children.


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities.
* Level 5 diploma in Residential Childcare (or working toward).


Desirable Qualifications

* Childcare qualification.
* Management and leadership qualification.

Pay: £47,810 to £54,710 a year
