The role involves delivering high-quality drama lessons that inspire and engage students, fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration. The teacher will plan and deliver lessons, assess student progress, and contribute to the wider life of the school community.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Teaching and Learning: Plan, prepare, and deliver drama lessons in line with the school’s curriculum and policies. Adapt methods and resources to meet diverse needs (including SEND and EAL). Assess, record, and report on progress with constructive feedback. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Data Management: Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and attainment. Use assessment data to inform planning and adapt teaching strategies. Contribute to departmental and whole-school data analysis as required.
* Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance subject knowledge and teaching practice. Participate in meetings, training, and performance reviews. Share best practice and resources with colleagues.
* Health and Safety: Ensure drama studio and equipment are maintained in a safe condition. Follow school policies for health and safety, including risk assessments for practical activities and performances.
* Safeguarding: Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies at all times. Report concerns promptly to the designated safeguarding lead. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students.
Person Specification: Part-Time Drama Teacher
* Education and Training: Degree in Drama or related subject. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Experience in teaching GCSE Edexcel drama. Evidence of recent relevant CPD.
* Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Recent safeguarding training.
* Relevant Experience: Experience teaching drama in a school setting. Experience directing school productions or extracurricular drama. Experience working with students with SEND/EAL.
* Teaching and Learning: Ability to plan and deliver engaging drama lessons. Ability to assess and provide feedback on student progress. Experience using data to inform teaching.
* Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Creativity and enthusiasm for drama. Competence in using ICT for teaching and administration.
