Head of Commercial
The Head of Commercial will lead all aspects of the Commercial, Estimating, Surveying and Purchasing team, having overall responsibility for all expenditure, for controlling 'cost of sales' and taking a strategic view from land acquisition through to customer care initiatives. They will also provide overall commercial advice to the regional board and assist the Regional Director in the preparation of budgets and strategic plans.
* In accordance with corporate responsibility for the business, work effectively as part of the senior management team and take a 'whole company' perspective to managing issues
* The job holder has corporate governance responsibilities which extend across all business areas, and which require the post holder to actively promote best practice throughout the company
* The job holder has significant business responsibility (In conjunction with other Senior Managers & Directors) for supporting the management of region; including the general running of the company, setting budgets, minimising risks, maximising opportunities, achieving the company's targets; and seeking to positively influence the progression and growth of the regions and its people
* Undertake H&S responsibilities and promote safe and best practices.
* Accountable for managing the company's Commercial function, ensuring best practices are applied, costs are effectively managed, revenue generation is maximised, and the department contributes strongly to operating profit while enhancing overall value delivered to the business.
Skills & knowledge you'll bring
To have achieved a degree in Quantity Surveying or building related course, who is ideally CIOB or RICS qualified or has relevant experience.
Excellent knowledge of commercial contracts and arrangements
Proven experience as Head of Commercial, Commercial Manager or in a similar senior commercial role
Able to use Microsoft packages and applications for cost control, budgeting, and payments as well as Microsoft Office applications. Ideally experience in use of Coins.
People focused individual that has demonstrable experience of managing people and can drive performance through a team.
An adept communicator with honed skills in negotiating and influencing.
Ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
