We are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the General Adult Psychiatry team at Stevenson Ward, The Harbour, a modern and purpose-built mental health facility in Blackpool. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well-established multidisciplinary team providing high-quality care for adult patients with complex mental health needs.
The successful candidate will provide senior clinical leadership to the ward, working closely with other consultants, junior medical staff, nursing teams, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other allied health professionals to ensure a holistic and recovery-focused approach to treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the psychiatric care of patients admitted to Stevenson Ward
* Undertake Mental Health Act assessments, including those requiring Section 12 approval
* Participate in ward rounds, MDT meetings, case conferences, and risk assessments
* Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
* Liaise with families, carers, and community services to support discharge planning
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, clinical guidelines, and Trust policies
Essential Criteria:
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
* Recognised Approved Clinician (AC) status
* Valid Section 12 approval
* CCT or equivalent in General Adult Psychiatry
* Significant experience working in inpatient general adult mental health services
* Excellent clinical leadership and communication skills
* Commitment to high standards of patient care and clinical governance
