Exciting Opportunity in the Worle Area

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Registered Children's Home Support Worker to join our dedicated team at Inspire Together. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in our care, enabling them to thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally. The ideal candidate will either already hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or be willing to work towards achieving this qualification within a specified timeframe.

Overview of young person to be supported

Hiya, I am a lively sensory seeking 14-year-old boy. I am profoundly deaf and non-verbal but I am great at letting you know what I need by the use of PECS, basic signs and pictures.

I am a happy young man but sometimes I can show frustration through behaviours, towards myself and others. I love my family and see them daily and I attend school full time. I require support from 3 support staff during the day and 2 support staff at night because I don't really know how to keep myself safe; I have learning difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am impulsive and can be very fast.

My adults support me to go on activities, with my personal care, keeping me safe and having lots of fun. I need a staff team who understand what a unique and brilliant young man I am and who will take the time to understand me.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct Care and Support:

* Provide consistent, safe and high-quality care to children and young people in a residential setting.
* Develop positive relationships with the children, understanding their individual needs, preferences, and backgrounds.

2. Development and Well-being:

* Assist in implementing personalised care plans tailored to each child's needs and goals.
* Foster a supportive environment that promotes self-esteem, personal and social development.

3. Education and Activities:

* Support children with their educational needs, homework, and extracurricular activities.
* Coordinate and participate in recreational and social activities.

4. Behaviour Management:

* Employ positive behaviour management techniques and strategies to promote a harmonious environment.
* Be proactive in identifying potential triggers and intervene appropriately to prevent escalations.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child's progress and any incidents as per organisational policies and procedures.
* Participate in team meetings and case reviews to discuss and plan care strategies.

6. Collaboration:

* Work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, educators, and other professionals involved in the children's lives.
* Engage with families and guardians, providing updates and support as necessary.

7. Compliance and Safety:

* Ensure all activities and care practices comply with the relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
* Promote a safe environment by following health and safety guidelines and reporting any concerns promptly.
* Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Qualifications:

Essential:

* Previous experience working with children in a residential or similar setting.
* A willingness to work towards or already hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine passion for supporting and advocating for children and young people's needs.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.

Desirable:

* Experience in behaviour management techniques.
* Knowledge of child development and relevant legislation.

Benefits:

* Competitive salary and benefits package.
* Opportunities for professional development and training.
* Supportive team environment.
