Lift & Escalator Design Consultant (Hybrid - London Area)
Want to work on the kind of buildings people actually recognise?
We're looking for a Lift & Escalator Consultant to join a leading technology and safety consultancy, supporting the design and delivery of major UK and international projects. From high-rise developments to complex public infrastructure, you'll play a key role in how people move through modern buildings.
This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on lift or escalator experience who wants to step into a more strategic, design-led role - or an existing consultant looking to work on bigger, more complex projects.
Why this role stands out
Work on high-profile, large-scale developments across the UK and internationally
Genuine hybrid flexibility - split your time between home, office, and site
Be involved early in building design and strategy, not just maintenance
Clear career progression within a global consultancy
Exposure to cutting-edge building design, BIM, and smart technologies
What you'll be doing
Advising clients on lift, escalator, and people movement systems
Supporting the design and planning of vertical transport in major buildings
Carrying out site surveys, inspections, and quality audits
Producing technical reports, specifications, and RIBA stage deliverables
Creating and reviewing CAD/BIM drawings and traffic analysis models
Building strong relationships with clients and contributing to project delivery
What we're looking for
Background in lifts, escalators, or vertical transport engineering
Comfortable working with clients and explaining technical concepts
Experience with traffic analysis, planning, or system design (or willingness to learn)
Strong IT skills (Excel essential; CAD/BIM helpful)
Nice to have
Experience in consultancy
MSc in Lift Engineering or similar
Project management experience
Knowledge of façade access systems
What's in it for you
33+ days holiday + bank holidays
Pension, life assurance & wellbeing support
Flexible hybrid working
Private medical & car allowance (role dependent)
Structured career development and progression
Access to international projects and opportunities
Why apply?
If you've worked in lifts or escalators and want to move into a role where you influence how buildings are designed - not just maintained, this is a rare chance to do it.
