Head Housekeeper : Nelson
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Housekeeper to lead our domestic team and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation across our home at Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House, Nelson. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, manage cleaning staff, and maintain a safe and hygienic environment. Previous experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial services, or hospital settings is highly desirable. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with strong leadership skills to contribute to a well-maintained and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
1. Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the cleaning team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to standard
2. Develop and implement cleaning schedules for various areas, including offices, communal spaces, and specialised hospital zones
3. Conduct regular inspections to verify cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations
4. Train new staff members on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and organisational standards
5. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring stock levels are maintained
6. Enforce health and safety policies to minimise risks and promote a safe working environment
7. Liaise with management to address any issues related to cleanliness or staff performance
8. Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities and staff attendance
Experience
9. Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial services is essential
10. Prior experience working in hospital environments is highly advantageous
11. Demonstrated leadership skills with previous supervisory or managerial roles in cleaning operations
12. Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to commercial and healthcare settings
13. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
14. Excellent communication skills to effectively lead a team and liaise with management
