Release Manager (Minerva MMTAR Functional Core Build)
Max rate: £515 per day PAYE
Duration: 6 months
Location: Telford / hybrid (2 days per week onsite)

Job description:
The Release Manager will plan, coordinate, and oversee software releases across development, test, and production environments.
You will ensure configuration integrity, structured deployment, and smooth migration activities – particularly supporting the transition from SAS 9.4 to SAS Viya 4.
This role requires strong hands‑on technical expertise in SAS technologies and Oracle, alongside deep knowledge of configuration management and the software testing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and manage the end‑to‑end release process across environments
* Coordinate development, testing, and operations teams to ensure timely, high‑quality releases
* Maintain and enforce configuration management standards using manifest files and structured artefacts
* Oversee packaging and deployment of SAS DI code (SPKs)
* Oracle artefacts (clear‑text files)
* Support SAS 9.4 → SAS Viya 4 migration activities using CI/CD practices and Capgemini accelerators
* Facilitate release readiness reviews, go/no‑go decisions, and post‑release retrospectives
* Ensure full traceability and auditability of release components and decisions
Required Skills & Experience
* Technical Skills
o SAS Enterprise Guide (EG) – job orchestration and user migration support
o SAS Data Integration (DI) – packaging and deployment using manifest structures
o SAS Management Console – promotion and code management
o SAS Studio – job development and deployment
o SAS Viya 3.5 / Viya 4 – modernised platform and migration experience
o SAS Visual Analytics (VA) and SAS Visual Investigator (VI) – reporting and investigation tools
o Oracle – data staging and decisioning workflows
* Process Knowledge
o Configuration Management – artefact groupings, dependencies, and release hierarchies
o Testing Lifecycle – strategy, planning, execution, defect management within release cycles
* Soft Skills
o Strong communication and stakeholder engagement
o Methodical, detail‑oriented planning and execution
o Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
* Desirable Experience
o Experience within HMRC or similar public sector environments
o Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud‑hosted platforms (AWS, Azure, SAS PaaS)
o Knowledge of scheduling tools such as Airflow
o Exposure to SAS Migration Factory delivery models
