What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Your expertise will shine as you:
* Utilize Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards for design and analysis, employing FEA and classical calculation methods.
* Apply your knowledge of regulations that extend beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, Weld Specifications, and Geometric Tolerance.
* Interpret data using advanced analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Support the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of Submarine Structures.
* Produce concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs that meet contractual requirements while adhering to target dates and budget constraints.
* Check and approve calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
* Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
* Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
* Strong background in mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Previous experience in a production or marine production environment.

The Production Engineering Department Team:
As part of our dynamic Production Engineering Department, you will collaborate with a talented team of designers and engineers. In this rapidly growing team, you will conduct engineering assessments to support the build process and work closely with the design team to develop equipment and provide operational support for safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for all Submarine roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
