Bid Manager / Tendering Engineer
A well-established organisation operating within the electrical infrastructure and power distribution sector is seeking an experienced Bid Manager to support its growing portfolio of projects.
This permanent role focuses on the delivery of substation construction and upgrade works across low to high voltage networks (up to 132kV), supporting both regulated utilities and privately owned networks. The role is primarily home-based, with occasional travel to project and client sites across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Review tender documentation, clarify technical and commercial requirements, and coordinate the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals
Manage bid activities from initial enquiry through to final submission and post-tender engagement
Lead commercial and technical discussions with clients to refine scope and develop competitive offers
Identify risks and opportunities within tender submissions and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are applied
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to strengthen bid responses and maximise success rates
Carry out or coordinate site visits where required to support accurate scoping and costing
Develop detailed cost estimates incorporating labour, materials, subcontractors, and delivery methodology
Present tender submissions for internal approval and oversee handover to delivery teams upon successful award
Candidate Requirements
Demonstrable experience in bid management or tendering within infrastructure, utilities, or engineering environments
Relevant engineering qualification (electrical or power systems preferred, but not essential)
Background in high voltage or substation-related projects is advantageous
Strong commercial awareness and experience in cost estimation and proposal development
Ability to engage confidently with clients and internal stakeholders
Package & Benefits
Competitive salary in the region of £60,000-£70,000 depending on experience
