Minibus drivers at St Monica Trust undertake a valuable and varied role taking our village residents shopping, out on day trips and taking care home residents on outings.
They ensure the safety of our residents and staff, making sure that the minibus is fit for purpose by completing some basic vehicle maintenance tasks. Minibus drivers play their part in the successful day to day running of our service.
What we're looking for:
The role of minibus driver is a physical role as you will be removing/ replacing seats in the minibus to accommodate wheelchair users. The driver will be responsible for securing wheelchairs, risk assessments for trips, vehicle safety and minor vehicle maintenance, planning and organising your own trips, also basic knowledge of health & safety/fire is essential and basic computer skills. When there is no driving required, you will be expected to help the on-site concierge with their tasks. Keeping the team informed of events and incidents is crucial – we'll be looking for clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to act promptly and effectively in an emergency.
Due to the nature of the services we provide at St Monica Trust, we will also be looking for an understanding of older people's needs. Additionally, the wide range of tasks associated with this role (as outlined in the role profile) will require a good level of practical skills and must have a full UK driving license with D1 entitlement.
Days and hours of work will be when required, e.g. Monday - Friday 9am - 4.30pm, £12.87 per hour
