Foreman - Substation Groundworks
Location: Isle of Grain, Kent Job Type: Long-Term Contract (Ongoing Works) Start Date: Immediate / ASAP Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience
We have an urgent requirement for an experienced Foreman to oversee a significant substation groundworks project on the Isle of Grain. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong background in heavy civil engineering and groundworks within an industrial or energy sector setting.
As the Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all on-site groundworks operations. You will lead and motivate a team of operatives to ensure work is completed safely, to the highest quality standards, and in line with the project programme.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervising all groundworks activities, which may include excavation, deep drainage, reinforced concrete foundations, ducting, and other associated civil works.
* Leading and managing direct and subcontracted site teams.
* Ensuring stringent health, safety, and environmental standards are enforced and adhered to at all times, which is critical in a substation environment.
* Conducting daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
* Coordinating with project management, engineers, and other stakeholders.
* Managing on-site plant, machinery, and materials to ensure efficient workflow.
* Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries and progress reports.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Foreman or General Foreman on heavy civil engineering or large-scale groundworks projects.
* Experience working on industrial sites such as substations, power stations, or similar process-driven environments is highly advantageous.
* A strong understanding of reinforced concrete, drainage, and ductwork.
* A valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) certificate.
* A valid CSCS card.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and man-management skills.
* A thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations.
This is a key role on a major infrastructure project with an immediate start and ongoing work available for the right candidate.
